Our Family's Journey Through Time
Welcome to the genealogy website of Beatriz de Esesarte and Hans Holmstrand. We hope you enjoy these pages as much as we have in putting them together. The study of our ancestors is continuing with the help of family, friends and of course the internet. On the top is a menu of choices including an excellent search tool, a complete list of surnames. Histories, interviews, stories and copies of documents. There are photos of headstones and maps of cemeteries where available. Interesting reports are in the works. Photos of our ancestors are being compiled with links to the individuals. All of this is in progress and each time you return more information will be available. Any information is welcome, and any photos or documents you would like to share can be attached to the ancestor. Comments and suggestions for improvement are also welcome. Enjoy.
Fog is a Danish clergy family, which can be traced back to the self-employed farmer Niels Fog (1465 - 1505) in Borum in Central Jutland. His son of the same name (Niels Nielsen Fog), who was also a self-employed farmer, was born approx. 1500 and became the grandfather of the family's first priest, Niels Pedersen Fog, (1570-1628), parish priest of Storring, Stjær and Galten. Niels Pedersen Fog's grandson Jørgen Fog (1631-1710) excelled as a theology student in the defense of Copenhagen during the Swedes' attempt to conquer the city in February 1659 (The Storm on Copenhagen). He later became a priest at Sct. Catharina Church in Ribe. Prominent members in general are i.a. Bishop Bruun Juul Fog (1819-1896) and the physician and resistance fighter Mogens Fog (1904-1990).
Thyco Brahe was a Danish nobleman, astronomer, and writer known for his accurate and comprehensive astronomical observations. He was born in the then-Danish peninsula of Scania. Tycho was well known in his lifetime as an astronomer, astrologer, and alchemist. He has been described as "the first competent mind in modern astronomy to feel ardently the passion for exact empirical facts". Most of his observations were more accurate than the best available observations at the time.
We strive to document all of our sources in this family tree. If you have something to add, please let us know.
